I wonder if you could look further into this to find out what courts prosecute these cases of people rounded up thru the NSA program.
If the Pres. wants to make his own rules about who it spies on, then maybe I or many others I talk to could be, just for the reason that I am Anti-Bush. Doing away with FISA takes away my rights should I be spied on without probable cause. AT&T, Verizon & other carriers should be very wary of any program without oversight by Congress. They could be subject to suits by people who maybe just read overseas papers, like myself. Or maybe just google the word "Turkmenistan". Or who look up info on Halliburton or Blackwater. Without FISA. myself and others, could have our civil rights violated by eavesdropping without "probable cause" or "reason".
Besides First Amendment Rights, I remember reading something else in the Constitution (need to go back and find where)that said my words are my own, as well as anything implied by me. I take that to mean that someone can't copyright my words-but I also take it to mean that my words could not be copied-peiod-without my permission. That would mean anyone making some sort of hardcopy of my words without my permission is doing it illegally. I, also take the Constitution, to be a contract between the American people and government-when it is outsourced to 3rd parties other than the governemnt-who can also give that info to someone-it is doing so illegally.
Polls are being manipulated by media and possible WH to further the rhetoric against Iran.
this is just more of the same.

I've quit reading Time months ago. Waste of my TIME.
Klein is Roves' new Novak. Klein, eager, arrogant buffoon that he is-is only too happy to sit up and beg for his treats.
Hope he realizes when Dems do takeover the WH in 08, his career is as good as over. Hope Klein realizes how seriously he damages his own credibility and the hopes of others like myself, who want to see the country put back on the right track from these oil robber barons of the world.
No CRED whatsoever, Klein.
and so does GW. How could any rational person think that going into a 3rd World country-dictatorship or not-after reducing the country to rubble would think the US "liberators".
The one good thing-after seeing how this war went SO well and according to plan-think the Brits can burn those "how to occupy a country" manuals for good.
The thing that I see common to restoring justice and order to both the countries that we've occupied and our own is resurgence of the moderates. Moderate thinking on religion will lead to tolerance, moderates in business will lead to mediating between business and labor, moderates in politics to bring some much-needed reality and wisdom to those extremist Muslim or Christians, moderates in civil society will mediate racial and homophobic strife. If moderates everywhere don't learn to stand up for themselves against these types (be they GOP or Democratic, Sunni or Shiite) and demand thier say at the table-democracy is lost.
Love ya Glenn! Enjoy your articles.
among the media giants. It's way past time the people took thier "fourth estate" back from corporations.
I have some suggestions for Congress if you're listening:
-Fine networks for perjury if more than 3 lies per hour are told during news or political shows. If the network has been given correct information that refutes the story and the story or lie continues to be fomented by a network- the fine should therefore be doubled, tripled each susequent offense.
(While some may count advertising as lies-commercials and ads would be exempt.)
-Networks/newspapers can sue public officials on a personal basis-(as opposed to branch of gov.)-if it is proven the govt. is purposely using the media for its' own political gain. (So Cheney or Libby could be sued if these laws were in place.)
These should be tried publicly in jury trials with them determining the fine amount.
-During campaign cycles-truth squads should be mandatory for each candidate. These people would keep track of opponents smear tactics-giving more than 1 lie per 2 min. a fine of $150,000 by the offender camp to the targetted campaign. They should also have to remake the commercial-with apology and true account.
-If a network reaches an extrmee amount of unethical and blatant falsehoods-the FCC should revoke thier license and suspend it until a heavy fine is paid.
This is for starters-sure I can think of more!
It floors me to see how just patently obvious the GOP are about "image" over "substance" that they keep drooling over these bully icons. They don't even try to hide it anymore. It's insane. Not only do we have fake news on FOX, in TIME mag., on CNN, we have fake news coming from the generals on the ground in Iraq, and you have fake candidates. Is everyone in the GOP just in Fictional LA-LA land?
The Democratic slogans for the GOP Pres campaign should be:
" Not a military man-just play one on TV".
