If fringe groups like AIPAC can lobby

for war-they should have a draft instituted among Jews.

I'm sick of seeing Irish, Italian, Hispanic, and african-americans have to take up the plight of the Jews of this country while Jews sit on thier lazy, comfy asses here. If they want a war-I say, move to the Middle East and take it up then-but leave the rest of Americans out of it.

some NYGUY

Sign up for the draft. Stop expecting Americans to fight your proxy wars.

Your comments of "anti-semite" are typical responses by Jewish neocons to anyone bringing up the fact that Americans are sick of having to take up Israels' wars. Did you not look at the overwhelming numbers in Glens' article?

I see this time and time again on blogs as the Jewish neocon trolls swarm out in force- to try to smear.

Sorry, you dan't scare me-not intimidate me.

A 1 percenter does not have the right to decide what is best for the other 99% of Americans.

Glen, I think it is also necessary to remember

back in the 80s Saddam had signed a deal with Jordan who was then going to supply Israel with oil. Saddam decided to kill the pipeline deal. It was not soon after that AIPAC and others came up with the PNAC agreement in the 90s-soon after that came the secret energy meetings with oil executives-soon after that came 911-soon after that came the Afghanistan war-soon after that came the Iraq war.

This is a case of oil execs using Israel as an excuse for war. It is to thier benefit to keep Israel in a state of panic and terror-just as this WH has done to the American people. Israel is just a convenient excuse for oil companies to keep invading countries in the MIdeast.I don't think all Jews think Israel needs to be waging wars-but I do think those neocon wallstreeters, entertainment industry....are being used by the Jewish neocon extremist like the PNAC signers as a front for the oil industry GW buddies down in Texas who keep thier name and fingerprints off of everything and let others do their PR work for them-like AIPAC.

Glenn do you actually tread and listen

to the names of the dead as they are being reported over the news. There is a disproportionate number of other Americans groups black, hispanic, italian, irish-yet I see very few Jewish names. Why is it that no one has done a survey of the actual number. If AIPAC/Jews are 1% of the total population-why are they so potent a force on Mideast foreign policy. We are not hearing from any Muslim groups.

I don't object to Jews-I object to Jews who think it is the responsibility of the US to fight thier wars for them. I object to neocons/Jewish who write the war-planning strategy for US wars in the Mideast. I object to neocon Jews who think they have a chokehold on controlling what decisions both GOP and Dems can decide. I object to AIPAC Jews who have put thier own peoples' interest ahead of the interest of the entire country as a whole-and are not willing to make their own sacrifices by serving-yet expect other Americans to willingly do so.

If they are the ones wtiting the PNAC agreements why am I antisemite for pointing out that maybe some of these same Jews should have to sacrifice members of THIER families or themselves by signing up for the military.

the definition of Zionism is that Israel could allow the Jews to practice it's own religion. What it does NOT say-is that Zionist Jews have the right to move other people out of thier homeland as a result-or to take land that belongs technically, to other countries-that has been the interpretation of the extremists-but by definition incorrect and opportunistic.

To those who think I overstate the influence of AIPAC

please read the names on the PNAC Agreement and the signers. Many of the same leftovers from Iran/Contra. To think that this has no relevance is stupifying-of course it does.

Look at who AIPAC featured as a guest speaker at their conference this year-Hagee. A man who is calling for the destruction of Israel to bring about a second coming. Beats the hell out of me-why an Israeli lobby would want such a speaker there (calling for the destruction of their state). My gut makes me think this is a snakeoil pitch that both parties are perfectly happy to play along with (at the direction of the neocon oilrobber barons). Brilliant PR strategy-that way neos can keep both Neocon Jews and Christian fundamentalists under the same rhetoric and propaganda. The danger is that you then have within a week of this Joe Lieberman calling for the destruction of Iran. So it's not just that God is supposedly coming-it's that he's not coming fast enough for some (who probably want thier oil stocks to go up). In the meantime you get $12 billion missing, 190,000 weapons gone in Iraq-while all of the players of the Saudi Bank scandal/money laundering, Iran/Contra arms dealers-who were never brought to justice in the first place-are making a killing I'm sure.

So it's not a matter of the US "defending" Israel-it is about Israel purposely and willfully getting themselves into wars and entanglements at the behest of the WH (neocons, Christian fundies). This is not what the American public was sold for the Iraq war-and it is dishonest to downplay AIPACs role in it.
