  • Ya think the terrorists might have figured this one out?

[Read the article: Treason and the Times]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Just like the wiretaps, any self respecting terrorist organization is going to assume that the banking is being monitored. That's why god invented suitcases for the transport of money. I would like just once to hear of a plot stopped (apart from some sorry ass idiots who needed shoes)by these unconstitutional searches. It is a sad day when they want to prosecute someone for telling the truth.

  • Why was this not considered - very thoughtful examination- should have been on evey news show

  • Simple definition

[Read the article: Still more White House secrecy -- this time in the Tillman investigation]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

In a free country, information about citizens is protected by law. Information about the government is open to the public.

In a police state, information about the government is secret and he citizen's lives are open books.

Such total information inversion is necessary to facilitate the crimes of government and to prevent those crimes from becoming public knowledge

As summed up by Al Gore

"By closely guarding information about their own behavior, they are dismantling a fundamental element of our system of checks and balances. Because so long as the government’s actions are secret, they cannot be held accountable. A government for the people and by the people must be transparent to the people. "

  • Still a ripoff

[Read the article: Amazon's MP3 store: Better than iTunes]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

As Farhad points out you can buy the CD DRM free so why would you not buy a cd and rip it. If you wait a month for a used cd of your choice they can usually be had for $5 or $6 with shipping.

  • The irony is mindboggling

[Read the article: A muted response from Bush]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Undermining democracy....these two are cut from the same cloth, Bush is just jealous he can't pull that shit here...oh wait.... we won't know until November '08 he still has time

  • Unbelievable!

[Read the article: This Modern World]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I just read his column today ..it could be a satire of itself ..even going so far as to quote the esteemed political commentator Michelle Malkin refering to her as a "conservative writer" . That this idiot would be allowed any platform is beyond comprehesion. I guess the editorial fact checkers at the NYT are in need of somthing to occupy their time.

  • Uhhh No thanks

[Read the article: Crist would support Florida Dem primary do-over]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

After being spared the onslaught of advertising from the Dem side ( having endured Rudy, Mitt, McCain et al) I don’t think I could take another round of 7-24 fear mongering, which is where this campaign has headed. Both those recent ads from both sides could have been from RudyMittMcCainHuckabbee camps except for the last 25 seconds. Anyone catch 60 minutes last night and the third world volunteer medical teams that are now servicing our disenfranchised….it is sad to see real issues falling by the wayside.

  • @bignose

[Read the article: Rove for Romney?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

OH MY GOD! That my friend is a scarier thought than your worst nightmare. That backroom dealing weasel attempted to subvert democracy in this state for his entire term, with such stuff as trying to circumvent class size ammendments against the "will" of the people. We won't even mention his machine handing his brother the election....

  • There were a few places that bucked the trend

[Read the article: How the press failed on Iraq]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

In the run up to the war there was an article in Harper's magazine that I photocopied and gave to everyone I could. It was from a correspondent on the ground who went into great detail about the sorry ass Iraqi army that could not even equip it's troops with combat boots and rifles... most were wearing worn out tennis shoes. Had more of the MSM bothered to put some boots on the ground before the war it would have been apparent that it was a ghost regime we were fixin' to fight. Even "Who Knew" Hillary might have received enough news by osmosis that she would have had no problem voting against the authorisation.

  • I concur

[Read the article: Carville wants resignation cease-fire]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Really! The response to all those "nasty words" should be So What ! Is that all you've got??? how original... concentrate on somthing a little more relevant and show your maturity instead of a sound bite.

  • I could have sworn...

[Read the article: Barack Obama delivers make-or-break speech on race]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Falwell and Pat Robertson and Hagee said essentially the same thing about 9-11 and Katrina except they they blamed it on the gays..and were given a pass by the MSM. Wingnuts say crazy things all the time and to recognize it only validates it. This guy should be dismissed and recognized for what he is a nut case who last time I checked is not part of the Obama campaign

  • If it was not so pathetic I would laugh

[Read the article: War? What war?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I heard a MSM talking head say with a straight face that things are improving, " Figures released on Friday suggested that the number of civilians and security forces killed across Iraq in January - 541 - was the lowest monthly total for nearly two years" How long would any other civilized society tolerate thes kinds of numbers? If it was 3 people a month killed by a random bomb over here there would be non-stop 7-24 coverage to the exclution of all else.

  • I don't need no stinkin' indicator

[Read the article: Architecture of a recession. ]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I work in purchasing in a local government in Florida. At a Prebid for Engineering services in a nearby county 64 engineering firms showed up for the prebid... a few years ago you could have counted them on two hands or sometimes if it wasn't a big project - no one would respond because they were all busiy with commercial projects..tells me all I need to know.

Please read Uber Conservative David Brooks in the NYT "The Long Defeat" It sums it up succinctly with no floss

  • Imagine

[Read the article: What can and cannot be spoken on television]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I saw Nelson Mandela on Jon Stewart one night and he said "Imagine if the United States exported hope and kindness instead of war what a world it would be" Trillions of dollars spent on the betterment of mankind instaed of war and oil.

  • No Suprise

[Read the article: A big lead for Obama in new Gallup poll]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I guess the euphanism "misspoke" didn't fool anyone. Everyone saw it for what it was - a Walter Mitty bald face lie. Maybe the high road does work.
