Hey, we readers depend on salon.com to do a better job than that. Couldn't have been hard to research this and find out it was Reno 911.

Double entendre.

Is it deliberate?

What?

I don't agree with the premise here -- that Americans didn't elect the Democrats for an increase in the minimum wage or a change in tone. Of course they did! Of course the war was a huge issue, there's no question. But this election wasn't only about one issue, it's about dozens of issues and starting do repair the damage Bush has done over the past 6 years.

Original article: The return of Mark Penn

Why Hillary Didn't Win

Hillary would have won the primary were it not for her team being dominated by dimwitted megalomaniac hacks like Mark Penn and (ugh) Terry Mcauliffe.

Perfect speech

Biden's speech erased all possible doubt that he's the right person for the the VP role on this ticket.

against "early" voting?

I fail to understand your argument that early voting is somehow harmful because the sides are "locking in" their supporters votes. Every time you vote, you "lock in" your choice, this is no different in voting a week early or voting at 8am on Election Day. "Lock-in" is inherent in any voting system, and it's a fundamental part of what I like to call "making a decision." What logical reason is there to ask all of America to lock-in their choice during a single 12 hour window, as opposed to letting people make their decisions at their own time, at their own pace, during a single week or even month? Your fear of "locking in" votes a few days too early seems to me an emotional one, tied to the nostalgic notion that America should have an "Election Day" rather than Election Week, or Election Month.

Thoughts from an alternate universe

Hmmm. I don't have strong feelings about the author as do many of the other letter writers but, wow, this little piece is really astonishing.

There's no question the Obama team has made mistakes in the first few weeks. Even a few big ones. But the notion that the GOP is being resurrected, or the suggestion that the mistakes are destroying confidence... these observations just don't connect with reality.

Agree completely

There's something about pledge drives that cause PBS to sink to its worst instincts. Remember when they gave Dr. Perricone airtime so he could shamelessly plug his miracle anti-aging elixirs? And who can forget the PBS pledge drive introducing us to self-help guru Suze Orman who told us that in order to be rich we only needed "courage," and that we could save for our retirement by never spending coins but instead putting them in a bucket at home?
