@Cairston and Geeky

Cairston - You make a good point about the definition - 16 weeks in the study vs. 20-24 months in states (or I have even heard 28 in some cases although I can't find what state that is).

Geeky - Indeed it would be mitigated by education. The swath of opinion on this is wide, with some people essentially asserting that a woman should be able to terminate indefinitely. Unfortunately, even your note that some of that data might 'give one pause' as general mode of expression has been relegated in the public sphere to polemics... but that is a different point.

And that, whatever one thinks of Mr Cole... is what he said...

Not sure what to say (and you won't be reading this). If you had bothered to read anything I wrote, you would know I am not defending anti-abortion positions. You are just a rude and incorrect individual. Griswold is not a judgment in favor of absolute privacy at all except in cases of marriage and arguably sexual behavior. Generalized privacy is upheld, but not not fundamental privacy in all cases.

Now, besides that, it is apparent you have made up your mind. Without any doubt there is some consideration among many doctors that questions could be raised regarding the ability for a fetus after 30 weeks to feel pain. The nature of such pain is, of course debatable. But if you are not able to consider opposing and sometimes contradictory points of view and evidence, then you are an ideologue. And moreover a fairly poor one, since, as I mentioned, I am pro-choice in almost all cases, but am willing to consider that there may be humanitarian reasons to question abortion at extremely late stages, but you spout off as if I am some sort of General Franco.

trudy

Quite possibly, but my initial point was that there are multiple studies that question whether such an option IS always serious considered, as I noted in an earlier post. I pointed this out, not to assert a point of view but to note that, while it is perpetually asserted that women only engage late term abortions in cases of medical need, facts do not necessarily back this up, and it is intellectually dishonest to state as fact this determination. This is besides Kansas and any specific location but on some cases of self-reporting. As I said, this is not to make a case even against late term abortion by any reason but to question whether one ought make such declarations sans the required facts to back it up especially while there is possible contradictory evidence.

Original article: "The Hangover"

re-TARD

'Zach Galifianakis pronounces the word "retard" with the accent on "tard," as if it were a French seafood dish.'

OR a musical term for slowing down of tempo over one or a few bars more precisely.

But, never mind that, get your sister some help.

Oof

This article, as written, really makes it worse....

carla bruni

"I think Drudge's picture of Michelle glaring at Carla Bruni is indicative of where the "perfect first family. Dammit" is heading."

Well, to be fair, bruni is fantastically annoying. I am not sure I could listen to her grating, self-obsessed theories on life and love over dinner, myself, with out at some point forking myself in the eye.

Can salonites stop lecturing?

"Of course, when we're talking about BBQ Pork Ravioli Bites, preparation may be beside the point. Friday's and its ilk trade in the kind of middlebrow mall fare and managed smiles so ably parodied in the movie "Office Space." These chains elicit not the loathing of a Blockbuster, but a head-shaking chuckle, and the self-loathing of indulging in caloric disasters like the Awesome Blossom."

PLEASE... PLEASE. Why am I subjected to the constant moral bleetings of every fucking cum-gobbler at Salon? I am merely attempting to have a reasonable day sans the outrage fork stuck in my behind. Perhaps you are right, I should be working, and not reading this incessant drivel from the dregs of our nation's writers. Perhaps Salon should consider outsourcing offshore... it certainly couldn't HURT work production. I am kidding of course. BUt in all seriousness, this reference to, and disdain for, anything 'middlebrow' is what one calls classism. As regards your description of 'managed smiles': One might be able to discern you have not recently been to MY TGIFs... and neither have I, because the waitress, with the crack pipe bubbles on her pussy-fingers spent the better part of the evening smoking crack in the restroom. She did have the decency to write an IOU on the back of a napkin.... man, poor woman. I do think she was fired that night, but I have always wondered whether they might honor my IOU for 'one app'.

Anyway, perhaps your TGIFs is different. Perhaps all our TGIFs are different. Perhaps your reference to managed smiles was really just about you. I did read the rest of the article, which was fine, but you did rather get my goat on entry, and sex can never go well after your partner enter the room yelling epithets, unless directed at me (in which case of course, it depends on the epithet and degree of crazed eyes). But, I would note that this manner of classism is, of course, what liberals are accused of. This being a magazine of liberal intent, irrespective of your own, I do think it is unappreciated.

I do like Chile's fajitas I must admit.

He is right about Obama

I have spent a good deal of time around such folks... well, not a good deal, but maybe enough to know who Bo Dekker and his Knights of Freedom were... These people already assume that the nation is overrun. The election of a black guy is no more than an afterthought that they were right after all. You have to look into these people's eyes to understand right they know they are... well before Mr Obama came around.
