Cindy Sherman.... what is the big deal? You couldn't pay me to hang one of those things on my wall. What silliness.

Incidentally, what is up with Mr Humidity... spamming all the message boards. Being an Obama supporter, I feel comfortable saying the reason Obama has petered off in polling has less to do with Wrighty, and lots to do with his f**king annoying cult following and their obnoxious BS and behaviour.

[Read the article: How Hillary Clinton botched the black vote]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

You would be wrong. It is not at all unfeasible that in a black population, a white democrat would win over a black republican. It has happened several times that I am aware of.

Moreover, while the UK may have its merits in place on same matters Race, I think it would be well out of order to suggest it is not an issue. Indeed, when Galloway won in Tower Hamlets (was it?) he was accused repeatedly of race baiting (local muslim populations) and unseating 'Britain's only black parliamentarian who had supported the Iraq war..

  • 'myth' definition

[Read the article: McCain, Obama, Clinton push dangerous vaccine-autism myth]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I don't understand the presumption you make (nor the tenor of the responses here) regarding this theory. I can tell you my nephew lives in a group home for autistic children in San Diego (and formerly attended that very school). My sister is a doctor, as is her husband (indeed he is a neurologist, relevant inasmuch as many versions of the vaccination theory suppose that the vaccinations elicit brain lesions). Neither are whole heartedly and utterly in support of the theories, but are more than concerned that it is possible there was an environmental influence. Being a pretty rational person my sister dates her son's sudden behavioral shift to within 2 -3 weeks of receiving a battery of vaccinations.

While you are welcome to your opinion, your presumption that it is, categorically, a myth is rather arrogant (especially given that your are not a physician nor a researcher). I would add that the results of a single, or even two studies, does not a solid conclusion make; not more than 2 years or so ago, the prestigious British Medical Journal published a study dismissing the effects of second hand smoke as, well, smoke. I am sure you would likely disagree that Second Hand Smoke is a 'myth,' as would any number of physicians.

You ought to examine the comprehensiveness of your positions before asserting they are fact as your opinion is no more founded than many of these parents (and believe me, they spend more time pouring over the data than you), or, for that matter, the obnoxious Salon posters here.

  • Cary....

[Read the article: Our friend got drunk and went to a hotel room with a bunch of Marines]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

"There may be a risk of physical violence as well. Has he ever threatened her or her friends with violence? "

And then allude to his potentially being a cheater too?? That is pretty offensive, although now that I think about it, it seems part and parcel of AA veterans. I once put an (ex) GF in rehab. A friend of mine was in AA at the time, and one of his buddies walked right up to me and immediately asked, without knowing me, what I was doing to do about my addictions problems. I'm no innocent, but without knowing me, or indeed anything about me, he presumed because I was with someone who was an addict of sorts, I surely must be one myself.

It just seems to be part and parcel of the N-step programming, or a certain mode of thought, because thinking back now, I can think of other similar presumptions made by 'members' that they can 'spot' things other people can't. Sometimes these instincts have been correct, but just as often not...

  • Congratulations Salon posters

[Read the article: Michael Wolff on sex and the Dems]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

You have officially joined the mode of communication usually only granted to the special denizens of Front Page Mag and Free Republic - nothing but reactionary loopbacks.

Its also pretty clear many responders here didn't even read the post, but rather took it as an opening to slam Walsh. I can understand critiquing Walsh, but as for this rather innocent piece correctly pointing out the nutiness of Vanity Fair/Wolff, I don't see much room to slip the knie through the armor.

[Read more letters about this article: Here]

How is a blog posting about how insoucient, and focussed on completely non-fact based or salacious garbage -- the media at large is -- not a relevent item? It seems quite topical and current and of note. This particular Wolff bit examplimfies the worst of gossip-rag political hack writing, and further indicates potential biases. Glen Greenwald does this all day.

You're just being contrary for the sake of it.

  • Poppet?

What's a poppet...? Puppet? Haven't seen the poppet spelling since my family smacked the liverwurst out of my mouth and dragged me back the the USA as a child.

Are you suggesting somebody 'do something' about Ms Clinton? She was (and is) a first lady, you know.

  • Frack Clinton anyway

[Read the article: "You can't win this nomination"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I'm tired of this conversation. I think Ms Clinton could ave been a fine preseident. I have argued with all manner of Obamatrons about her merits, but her call to 'count the votes' in florida and michigan was the end. There could be nothing more despicable than that. She is dead to me.
