Still?

I can't believe this is still going on.... and especially astounded that women are somehow to 'blame' for circumcision. I don't get it. Some women prefer one, others another. IN the end, I hope they don't base their choice of life partner, should they have one, on this exact aspect.

Regarding the individual who stated that circumcised males are more likely to 'avoid' sex... this is utter nonsense. Sexual desire is no more created by the presence of foreskin than it is by vasodilators, such as viagra. Points about sensitivity might be worth some note, though. Not that a whole lot of men I have ever spken with have expressed a fear they take too long.

For the person who cut off contact with their family: this is highly suggestive of cultish behaviour. I would more likely think it is the result of projection of ones own obsession, or, medical trouma on to others. It is obvious that problems may occur in any procedure; circumcision is also not the only procedure taken voluntarily for aesthetic or social reasons. Fused [fill in the blank] can occur in utero, and often parents will want the cosmetic fix done, and sometimes there are problems. A woman who lived near me had her 5 yo daughters ears pierced. A reaction occurred in the child and part of the lobe had to be removed..although ultimately replaced, pro bono, by a surgeon. Neither the piercing nor the fix were 'medically necessary.' Clearly both were dangerous. I am not going to form a group to rant against ear piercing in children.

Clearly there can be serious medical problems. But for most of the men who are troubled by their circumcised penises, there are likely other causes, physical or psychological, that can be treated. A friend once knew a perfectly health man who was obsessed his foreskin had been 'taken' and went through extensive procedures to have it restored.... This is pathological. While, no doubt there are serious medical risks not to be denied, I would urge such men to consult a medical doctor more frequently and aggressively and 'Foreskin' websites much less.

What I really find idiotic are these comparisons to shaving or ear piercing or fused [insert]. I mean really. Hair grows back, take out earrings and the holes close, and a fused [insert] isn't normal.

This is really neither here nor there, my friend. For the case of the ear piercing, the problem was not the puncturing of the ear, but rather that as a result of the procedure, part of the lobe had to be removed. One of the common complaints regarding circumcision, and that was previously mentioned is that occasionally a child will suffer ill effect as a result of the procedure. The child in the case of the lobe-removal, in that sense went through an un-needed procedure which went awry. While I don't know I would piece my 5 YO daughters ears, I don't plan on starting a web site attacking the practice of childhood ear piercing -- because it would be stupid.

Similarly, regarding fused fingers (say, pinky and ring), for example, the procedure is completely unnecessary.

The fact is that this obsession with a minor procedure that hardly any men find themselves even thinking twice about is bizarre and obsessive. Some of these men who DO think about it all the time are willing to go through multiple procedures to 'restore' the foreskin by stretching and molding existing genital skin. I would put this obsession in the same category as people who, for no understandable reason, want parts of their bodies cut off... this is a known pathology and and Foreskin cultists are no doubt impacted by a similar obsession that something is deeply and fundamentally 'wrong' with a part of their body. These particular men need psychological treatment, not cohort who encourage their illness.

On the other hand, some women and, occasionally men, have simply, good intentions that may be misguided. The women usually equate male circumcision with female, of which there is no comparison other than the fact that they erroneously share the appellation 'circumcision' (which is the reason the term Female Genital Mutilation was adopted). There is essentially nothing similar in these procedures beside the neighborhood.

But perhaps most notable is that the foreskin cultists are habitually insulting, essentially throwing epithets at anyone who disagrees regarding a procedure that few people know have suffered at all as a result of. Going around and calling people 'barbarians', 'foreskin terrorists' and 'net true feminists' for disagreeing with you, is not going to win ANYONE over.
