Democrats, led by Representative Waxman are after our Secretary of State

Condoleezza Rice. In committee today, Waxman decided to subpoena

Secretary Rice to answer questions about the Presidents claim that Iraq

had sought to purchase uranium from Niger.

"It's sad that a dedicated public servant like Condi Rice has to be

subjected to a congressional witch-hunt because of policies they disagree

with," said Richard Holt, National Chairman of Think Condi.

Crystal Dueker, Communications Director of Think Condi says that the

Democrats are trying to "settle old grudges by attacking the highest

Cabinet official". Mr. Holt also added that Representative Waxman "went

after Rice because he didn't have the guts to go after the President

    himself."

But they've gone after Rice before. It was just a few months ago that

Sen. Barbara Boxer suggested that Rice could not understand the

consequences of going to war because she did not have children. "I still

can't believe they drooped so low the last time," Mr. Holt says in regards

to repeated bashing by what he called a "hurtful and demeaning" process.

"I'm confident the American people will see through this charade for what

it is," concludes Holt, "a cheap attack, by cheap people, with cheap

leadership, on a quality public official".

  • Debates can weed out the weaker candidates

[Read the article: Democrats strike up the show]

Real Name asked a question about why there are any debates now when it is 19 months before the next election.

    First:

the voters get to see and hear the various candidates.

The level playing field gives each candidate a chance to get their message out. It is one step toward weeding out the weaker candidates.

    Second:

Did any other Salon reader think to try to educate "Real Name" about how a political party selects its candidate? It is almost 9 months before the January Caucus of 2008, and most likely the top 3 candidates who win the support by the Democrats and the Republcans will get the headlines. Next are the New Hampshire primary and the S Carolina primary. Super Tuesday in March 2008 might be able to eliminate the 8 candidates in the Democrats column down to 2 or 3. Next, those top choices need to win enough delegates to win the nomination.

    Third:

Debates provide the viewers with a way to size up the candidates. See how they react under the glare of the limelight and how they perform under pressure.

    Fourth:

Walter used an interesting term, SUPER NOVA candidates. Yes, Dodd and Biden have over 20 years of experience in the Senate. But what did they ever accomplish? Did they create any foreign policy or implement the policy? NOPE.

This is why most voters do not elect a Senator to the office of president. Only 2 Senators went directly to the Oval Office in the past 100 years----Harding in 1920 and JFK in 1960. (Super Nova Obama, Hillary, Edwards might have a chance but Edwards is not longer serving in the Senate)

    OK, lesson done.

  • Condi for 2008

[Read the article: All aboard the Condi Mobile!]

During this 10 interview, I wish we had been able to get permission to speak to the thousands of people at the Fair Tax rally( a non-political event). Without that permission, neither Holt or myself could have stepped up to the podium to do what Mr. Koppelman suggested.

Some of the comments from the people on the street was overheard by my own ears:

1)A woman stated that Condi is not a typical politican, she has knowledge and experience we need in a president.

2)A man said the Republicans need Condi Rice, who merits being on the ticket to offset "Hildebeast" and prevent the Democrats from taking over the White House.

3)A woman expressed "Thank goodness you guys are doing this. More power to your group and I hope you make it happen."

Also, if we had taken our seats during the debate, we could not be talking to Mr. Koppelman about our thoughts during the debate. And with Condi being seen a major contender for 2008, she shows the inclusiveness and diversity of the GOP. We are a party of ideas and making them work for all people, not quotas.
