Just Saw This
[Read the article: "The Visitor"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I caught a free show in Austin that was sponsored by the ACLU. A really great film. The beginning bordered on being slow, but it paid off as the film went on because Walter was such a well-developed character. I thought Tarek may have been a tad uncomplicated but he was definitely likable.
It's a film that shows how enriching it can be for boring white Americans to learn about other cultures, and definitely, how important connection is. Walter was the saddest character in the film because he was so disconnected. A great film. It made me wish I lived in New York, too. There is no other place like it.

Thanks for fact checking the shoe size
[Read the article: Spare votes?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I think bowling was a boon for Obama. I have been perplexed why Clinton and others keep wanting to bring it up. His bowling showed the world:
he doesn't mind getting his butt kicked by a woman
he gets along well with children (look at all the cute pics of him high-fiving the kiddies)
he can laugh at himself
Much of electoral politics involves whether or not people like you. And wherever Obama goes more people like him. They may not vote for him, but most think he has a decent personality and he does win the poll for the most voters feeling like he shares their values. Unfortunately for Clinton, she can't say the same. Fair or not. Her numbers have shrunk in every state where Obama has campaigned, sometimes by significant margins like in Texas, where polls had her 20 points ahead three weeks before the election.
I'm not bashing HRC, I hope when she returns to the Senate she will feel liberated and be able to vote her conscious at all times. I hope losing does for her what it did for Al Gore.

Thanks for writing this
[Read the article: McCain's lack of candor on reproductive rights]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]It is well past time for websites like this to focus their energies on John McCain. This will make the Dems realize what we are up against and be more reasonable about rallying behind our inevitable nominee. No feminist will be able to cast a vote for John McCain in November. Reminds me of Bush
[Read the article: McCain gives up on his mortgage plan]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Remember when Bush talked about relaunching our space program in one of the state of the unions? I think we were well into the Iraq War, too, but he thought he could come across as visionary with his new plan. These two men are total jokes.

Money was involved
[Read the article: Obama says he would have gotten rid of Penn]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Which is why this is totally sketchy. Mark Penn was being paid by both sides and he is a lobbyist. Since he got fired by the Colombians, now he is just being paid by the Clintons. But this begs the questions: Did the Colombians hire him by referral from Bill Clinton? Did they know that he was working on HRC's campaign when they hired thim?
The Goolsbee thing was an error, but a minor one that Team Clinton exploited well. Last I heard, Goolsbee met with a Canadian but it was in Chicago and was requested by the Canadian as an informal meeting where they talked about NAFTA for less than 5 minutes over the hour. All in all, not a great move but not an earth-shattering one. I think the Obama campaign might not have even known about the meeting. But, yes, the original report of Goolsbee speaking with the Candadian Embassy was factually wrong. I also do believe that evidence will be uncovered to prove Team Clinton called the Canadians and did what they accused Obama of, but that hasn't been proven yet.
Another thing to think about: the CAFTA vote hasn't even happened. This isn't like NAFTA where it is a matter of simply tweaking the agreement this is passing it in the first place. Having influence with the possible president was probably priority one for the Colombians. Plus, they have Bill Clinton in their pocket. Technically, half of what he earned from the Colombians, 400 K, belongs to HRC since they are married. So she profited from this deal, as well.
Something smells and its not the cookies.

Clinton supporters
[Read the article: Debating the debate, complaining about complaining]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Do you have an equivalent example of Clinton being asked a question in a debate similar to "Does Rev. Wright love America as much as you do?" You keep saying Clinton has been unfairly hammered in the debates but you do not provide one example. From what I remember she has been vigorously questioned about issues such as NAFTA, immigration policy, but not anything related to personal relationships she has with people or acquaintances she has. Nobody has asked her about Vince Foster or Monica Lewinsky. Obama did stick up for her in the debate regarding Bosnia, none of you seem to be willing to admit that. He said all candidates make mistakes.

Clinton is like Bush
[Read the article: Who can win the big states?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]At this point, she is setting up her own version of reality that the press simply parrots. I have to say this whole process has reignited my belief in the American people because so many Democrats have not bought it. Even my hardcore Clinton supporter friends are starting to hang their heads in embarrassment and accept that Obama will be the nominee.
At this point, the punditry class needs to realize they are selling us a product and therefore they need to disclose who they support at the beginning of each cable news schtick. All the guys on Fox would need to say, "I'm defending Hillary Clinton so that John McCain will win in November."
Hey, Alex, I read that the RNC released a three page fax detailing why HRC was the better nominee. Is there any way you can print that? I personally would love to see why the RNC wants the strongest nominee possible to face John McSame.
