The brilliant thing is
[Read the article: A week of petty though typical attacks on Obama produced nothing]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]that Barack Obama has a defense built into his campaign. If he is talking about the need to end mudslinging before anyone even attacks then it gives him credibility and proves his point about the nature of Washington. It's quite amazing.
I live in Texas and already early voted for Obama. I'm taking off work too, so I can caucus for him on March 4.

Hurts McCain more than Obama
[Read the article: Are Barack Obama and John McCain hypocrites?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I read Obama's statement about public financing and he left a few loopholes so I think he can get out relatively unscathed. On the other hand, McCain was a a sponsor of the financing reform so it stings more if he rejects it.
As to hypocrisy, as others have said, big surprise that politicians are going back on an ideal to get elected. Plus, if we judged everyone for hypocrisy than we all be forced to wear large H's on our chests. We all tend to interpret things to make sense in terms of our self-interest and then justify our impulses however we can. Human nature.

Who says the 3 AM ad was effective?
[Read the article: It's 3 a.m. Who do you want answering the phone?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Even polling done by Clintons own people showed it had very little impact on voters. I live in Texas and I think her slight lead in Texas had more to do with winning the Latino vote and over a week of negative campaigning against Obama combined with a press overcorrection of their coverage. (C'mon he won the last 11 contests, of course he is going to get more positive press.)
She managed to tear him down, but I don't think she made people more confident in her own abilities. Besides now she opened herself up to a new line of attack -- what is her experience in foreign conflicts? Which leads to more questions of why exactly do her years of being first lady of Arkansas and the U.S. count towards her "35 years of experience." What are some examples of when she fought and won for the American people?
Senator Clinton may have won the Texas primary (not the caucus), but she still faces numerous obstacles, and the red phone ad will not win this for her.

No brainer ... Hillary Clinton is the GOP's preferred candidate
[Read the article: Who would the GOP rather face?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I saw David Brooks on PBS and he was asked who John McCain would rather run against and he automatically said Hillary Clinton. He paused as if realizing this may reveal something and said it was because he "liked" her better. Sure, I love to run campaigns against my friends.
Hillary Clinton is the Republican dream and she will not help expand the Democratic Party like Obama could.
Plus, I'm nearly 28 and for my whole freakin life either a Bush or Clinton has lived in the White House. This is America people, we shouldn't have two political families that control everything.

I heart Camille
[Read the article: Hillary's race against time]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]She is interesting.
I don't understand the people who say they are going to stop reading Salon because of her. All you have to do is skip her column, really not hard. Or since you obviously read it, just enjoy her unique perspective and don't hate.
I like her comments on feminists and HRC. I went to Berkeley and majored in Women's Studies and I do not think HRC is a feminist. I support Obama. There are more of us out there than you'd think.

and your point is?
[Read the article: The crazy uncles in Obama's attic]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Cause I really don't see one in the entire essay. He has friends with a wide variety of viewpoints. We have a clear enough idea where he stands based upon his voting record and policy proposals. His name is the only one on the ballot.
I don't care what Obama's pastor says. How does that relate to my daily life? When you start writing articles like these you are virtually saying we should investigate every person the candidate has come into contact with throughout their lives.
You have a lot of weak points. How does Obama going to this church fill out his weaknesses. Most people consider young men of any race who attend Columbia and Harvard to have a very strong resume and much potential. Also, you try and make it sound his sole motivation for joining the church was politically motivated. If so, why didn't he leave the church when he became a US Senator? Your illogical and improbable leaps of logic are astounding.
I am actually disappointed that Salon published this hack journalism.

If I have to hear about another poll ...
[Read the article: Will Wright hurt Obama's chances?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]They are about as important as an American Idol vote. Polls change with the news cycle and are, alas, as fickle as these unknown Americans. These numbers mean nothing but look pretty positive after the worst week of Obama's campaign. He has weeks to recover before any votes are cast. The media will tire of this soon and it will be boring soon.
